Durban’s Super Giants will be looking to complete a hat-trick of wins in SA20 2024 when they host Joburg Super Kings at Kingsmead on Monday.

Captain Keshav Maharaj will be pleased with the way his team performed against the defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape in their last outing at Gqeberha.

Openers Matthew Breetzke and Quinton de Kock laid the foundation for a formidable total before JJ Smuts and Nicholas Pooran joined forces to take DSG to 225/3. Smuts impressed with the ball too, picking up two crucial wickets.

Dwaine Pretorius, Richard Gleeson, Keshav Maharaj and Reece Topley also contributed with the ball to seal a 35-run victory, which lifted DSG to the top of the SA20 2024 standings with eight points from two games.

While DSG already look settled two games into the season, Joburg Super Kings, semi-finalists from last year, have endured a rocky start. After a washout against Sunrisers, JSK were handed a heavy 98-run defeat by MI Cape Town in their last match.

DSG, meanwhile, beat MICT in their SA20 2024 opener on Thursday. With the form their batters are in, DSG will fancy their chances against a struggling JSK team at home.

However, the Super Kings, led by captain Faf du Plessis, have some quality all-rounders in the squad with Moeen Ali and Romario Shepherd. The bowling department also features some formidable names in Nandre Burger, Lizaad Williams and veteran Imran Tahir.

Durban’s Super Giants vs Joburg Super Kings head-to-head record

DSG lost twice against Joburg Super Kings last season. Quinton de Kock led the 190-run chase at Kingsmead with a 52-ball 78 but the team fell short by 16 runs. Klaasen’s 48-ball 65 powered DSG to 178 at Bullring but JSK eked out a win in the final over.
