Durban’s Super Giants wrapped up the SA20 2026 campaign with a fifth-place finish on the points table, narrowly missing out on the playoffs. It was a season defined by fearless intent and uncompromising effort, as we took the fight to every opposition.
While we emerged victorious in several hard-fought battles, a few results did not fall in our favour, ultimately shaping our journey this season.
Through the highs and the challenges, one constant remained: UNITY. Even during difficult phases, the group stood shoulder to shoulder, with players and support staff backing one another unconditionally.
The dressing room continued to be a place of belief and motivation, where focus remained firmly on improvement and growth, regardless of the scoreboard. That collective spirit was a true reflection of what this team stands for.
Individually, some performances lit up our campaign. Captain Aiden Markram led from the front with the bat, amassing 309 runs in nine matches at an average of 44.14. His season was capped off by a mesmerising century in our final league match against the Paarl Royals.
Moreover, against the same opponents at Boland Park, Liam Livingstone went berserk with the willow, smashing an unbeaten 32 off just 10 deliveries to make the Durbs go WOAH! Another knock that invited similar reactions from the fans came from Jos Buttler, thanks to his whirlwind 97* off 52 versus the Pretoria Capitals at our home ground, which got us very close to completing an incredible chase.
With the ball, Eathan Bosch stood out, taking seven wickets in seven matches. His best figures of 4/46 came in a memorable win against MI Cape Town at Newlands. Among spinners, Sunil Narine came through at key moments, with his economy rate a respectable 5.18 across four matches.
While the season did not end the way we had hoped, our resolve remains intact. We will return next season stronger, wiser and hungrier, continuing our quest to bring home our maiden SA20 trophy. A heartfelt thank you to our fans for their unwavering support throughout the campaign.
As the tournament moves into its final stages, we extend our best wishes to the four teams still in contention.
