Durban’s Super Giants will be on the road again to face Pretoria Capitals on January 3 at 5:30 PM SAST at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, as we gear up for our fifth match of SA20 Season 4. With the tournament starting to take shape, this fixture presents another crucial opportunity to build momentum and climb the points table.
Our campaign so far has been a mixed bag. We have registered one win, suffered two defeats, and seen one match washed out due to rain. While the results may not fully reflect our potential, the spirit within the squad remains strong.
Our last outing against the Joburg Super Kings was a perfect example of that resilience. Despite the odds stacked against us in the 206-run chase, the team put in a valiant effort, led by Evan Jones and Aiden Markram, fighting until the very end. That performance alone gives us plenty of reason to keep pushing forward and believing in the process.
There have been several positives to take from the early part of the season, none bigger than the form of Evan Jones. The dynamic batter has been scoring runs for fun, showing composure, flair, and consistency towards the end of the innings with his big hitting. The knocks against MI Cape Town and Joburg Super Kings are an example of that. His ability to finish off in style has been a major boost for the side.
With the ball, Noor Ahmad has been nothing short of magical. His variations and control have left most oppositions confused, highlighted by his spell of 3/12 at the Bullring on New Year’s Day, and he continues to be a genuine wicket-taking threat in the middle overs.
As we head into the clash against the Pretoria Capitals, the focus will be on delivering a complete performance. Our belief remains unshattered, the dressing room is united, and the confidence to bounce back is very much intact. We are determined to turn our season around and firmly believe we have what it takes to qualify for the playoffs this year.
