Durban’s Super Giants endured a challenging outing in the third match of SA20 Season 4, going down by six wickets against the Joburg Super Kings at Kingsmead.

After winning the toss, Aiden Markram elected to bat first, backing his side to make early use of familiar home conditions and set a competitive total.

However, the innings proved to be a testing one for the Super Giants. The top order found it difficult to gain momentum as the opposition bowlers applied early pressure, reducing us to 25/4 inside the first seven overs.

Despite the tough start, Markram led from the front once again. He combined with Evan Jones to put together a crucial 30-run partnership, an effort that kept the scoreboard moving during a difficult phase. The duo’s resistance ensured the fight stayed alive before the innings eventually came to a close at 86.

Defending a modest total, we came out with real intent. The bowlers struck early, reducing Joburg Super Kings to 26/3 inside the Powerplay, igniting belief across Kingsmead.

Eathan Bosch led the charge, opening the floodgates in the third over by dismissing Matthew de Villiers for seven off 11 balls, a breakthrough that brought early momentum our way.

However, the visitors regrouped and built a steady recovery to eventually seal the contest by six wickets, despite the early setbacks.

With lessons learned and belief intact, we now turn our focus to New Year’s Day, where we face the same opposition at their home ground. The mission is clear - bounce back stronger! All is not over yet.
