Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has been roped in as a wildcard replacement for Nicholas Pooran in the Durban’s Super Giants squad for the rest of the SA20 2024 season.

Stoinis, known for his powerful hitting and effective medium-pace bowling, will provide DSG with a quality option with both bat and ball.

With 57 T20 Internationals (T20Is) under his belt, Stoinis brings with him immense experience in the format. He averages 30.50 in T20Is, striking at over 145. He was also a key part of Australia’s maiden T20I World Cup triumph in 2021.

With the ball, Stoinis, who was named Australia's T20I Cricketer of the Year for 2023, has picked up 24 T20I wickets with an economy of 8.70.

Stoinis plays for Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League and is one of the sought-after players in the IPL as well, having scored 1478 runs and scalped 39 wickets in 82 matches.

The 34-year-old Australian will look to turn up the heat in his debut SA20 season for DSG, who are already off to a sensational start this campaign with three wins in a row.

Nicholas Pooran has played a big part in DSG’s success early in the tournament. The West Indian ace’s unbeaten 31-ball 60 powered DSG to 225/3 against defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape in Gqeberha and eventually led the team to a superb victory.
