Durban’s Super Giants have set the SA20 2024 ablaze with three spectacular wins in a row. The Keshav Maharaj-led team now have an opportunity to extend their unbeaten streak as they gear up to face last year’s finalists Pretoria Capitals in Centurion on Thursday.

DSG kicked off their campaign with an 11-run victory (DLS method) against MI Cape Town. Building on that success, the team romped home against defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape with a 35-run win. In their latest showdown, DSG defended a modest 145/8 against the Joburg Super Kings, clinching a bonus point with a 37-run victory.

DSG have 13 points from three matches in SA20 2024 so far while Pretoria Capitals are yet to open their account after two games.

PC started with back-to-back defeats against Paarl Royals. Chasing 210, they fell short by 10 runs in their home game and lost the away contest by 27 runs chasing 160.

Heinrich Klaasen has been in fine touch for DSG this season and will be one of the dangermen on Thursday against Pretoria Capitals.

Klaasen's knock of 85 in 35 balls in the opening match helped DSG gun down MICT, who had put on 207 on board. Against JSK, Klaasen mustered a patient 64 in 41 balls to take DSG to a fighting 145.

Opener Matthew Breetzke and JJ Smuts have also performed with the bat for the team while bowlers, led by Keshav Maharaj, have stepped up in unison.

For PC, openers Phil Salt and Will Jacks will provide the firepower at the top of the order. Rilee Rossouw struck a 45-ball 82 against Paarl Royals and DSG bowlers will need to keep the left-hander in check. Pretoria Capitals captain James Neesham can also be a threat with both the ball and the bat.

Durban’s Super Giants vs Pretoria Capitals head-to-head record

DSG will have fond memories of Centurion from last season. Led by Klaasen’s unbeaten 104 in 44 balls, Super Giants posted 254/4 in their 20 overs. It is the highest total in SA20 history. DSG won the match by a margin of 151. In their home game, DSG lost by eight wickets.
