Our batting maestro Heinrich Klaasen has added another feather to his already impressive cap. The 32-year-old was recently named in the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year for 2023 courtesy of his brilliant showing in 50-over cricket last year.

The ICC Men's ODI Team of the Year was announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the world governing body for the sport, on Monday.

Klaasen, as he usually is for us in SA20, was a class act for the South Africa national team last year and finished with 971 runs from 24 matches and an average of 46.35. His strike rate was a tad over 140.

The haul featured three centuries and two half-centuries. His crowning moment of the year came against Australia in September at Centurion when he scored a brilliant 174 to guide the Proteas to a win.

Klaasen scored 373 runs in the ODI World Cup last year, including a century against England and 90 against Bangladesh at Wankhede. His other century of the year came against West Indies in Potchefstroom.

Our star batter was also instrumental to our three-match win streak towards the beginning of SA20 2024.
